The Millwood House  ллл click to view
The Millwood House is the only "new-old" house on our property.  It was designed and built by Ed and Billie Miles.  The interior bricks and the Long Leaf Pine planks used for the floors were salvaged in 1998 from the flood-ruined Dittlinger Mill.  These materials sat in storage for nearly 3 years until the construction of The Millwood House began in the latter half of 2001.  The original mill was built around 1847 by Wilhelm Merriwether but it was sold to Joseph Landa in 1859.  Harry Landa owned the "Landa Mill" until 1930 when it was sold to Hippolyt Dittlinger and renamed "Dittlinger Roller Mill".  The central stone structure of the mill survived the flood of '98 and stands restored on the banks of the Comal River, just outside of Landa Park.  The Millwood House at Gruene Homestead Inn has three beautiful units:  The Merriwether Suite, Landa's Loft, and Dittlinger's View.

The Faust House  ллл click to view
The Faust House, once the residence of hosts Ed and Billie Miles, is familiar in New Braunfels as the house that has "moved around town." Although today it sits fully restored on eight farmland acres two minutes from the historic village of Gruene, this home has been moved three times during its almost 1OO years of existence.  The house was built by Joseph Faust for his son Hanno whose wife was named Ella.  The Faust House has two cozy units:  Ella's Attic and The Garden Room.

The Farmhouse  ллл click to view
Constructed in 1859 by Wilhelm Eickenroht for his family, The Farmhouse is the original home on the site.   It is constructed in a traditional German style know as "fachwerk" which was characteristic of the colonial German homes.  The Farmhouse was used as a barn for sheeps and hogs from 1940 until the Miles Family purchased the property from Edwin Hanz in 1992.  Ed and Billie undertook a project of immense proportions when they set out to "fix it up".  The Farmhouse contains 5 unique units including the original root cellar:  The Judge's Chambers, Oma's Suite, Scarlett's Suite, Lili's Room, The Back Room.

The Cabin  ллл click to view
The bedroom was originally a grain barn and the bathroom was a feeding trough.  Tucked behind the Farmhouse, The Cabin is a single unit building and the original structure dates back to the 1940's.  It has a wonderful handmade rock wall and is decorated with an Ivy theme.

The Texas House  ллл click to view
Constructed in the late 1890's as part of Comal Town, the Texas House was moved from its original location on Union Street in 1995.  The plan of the two room frame Early Texas Farmhouse was predominant during the greater part of the nineteenth century period of development in Texas.  This house has two very popular units:  The Yellow Rose Suite and The Bluebonnet Suite.

The Country House  ллл click to view
Originally part of the Landa Ranch and known by local folks as the Brodt house, The Country House joined the other homes in 1995.  The Early Texas House, which was a simple frame structure with a porch across the front, gradually gave way to the more consciously classic forms of the Greek Revival Style with the wrap-around porch in the early 1900's.  After extensive renovation, The Country House now offers four unique guest rooms and suites:  The Green Room, Granny's Attic, The Country Suite, The Back Porch (ADA Certified).

The Rose Cottage  ллл click to view
The Rose Cottage was constructed in the 1890's as part of Comal Town and was moved from its original location on Union Street in 1998.  It was initially a two room frame Early Texas Farmhouse but has been remodeled and is now set up similar to the duplex style of the Texas House - it houses two of our coziest suites:  The Lady Banks Suite and The Belinda Suite.
